Bank of Montreal (BMO)
has opened their new branch on Center Ice Plaza property as a 6,500 sq. ft. stand-alone, state-of-the-art premise. After Nico’s Market, they are the next largest tenant on the property. Since opening in this location, BMO has opened a substantive number of new accounts because more than 2/3rds of the city’s residential areas are directly behind Center Ice Plaza.

Lube-X-Fast Oil Change is the latest stand-alone on Center Ice property. This is the only fast oil change facility in the city. This venture has created a lot of enthusiasm in Yellowknife as it is a practical type of amenity for the community. Lube-X is a three bay facility with a full line of synthetic products tailored for northern operations. There are 50 Lube-X in western Canada.

Nico’s Market is an organic market and Mediterranean bistro of 7,300 sq. ft. The boutique grocery store offers a full selection of organic produce, a small butcher shop, cappuccino & panini bar, specialty foods from around the world, and a selection of high-end cookware. In the summer, clients can enjoy their cappuccino and Panini on the patio.

L’Héritage Restaurant was located in downtown Yellowknife; after twelve successful years as one of the premier restaurants in the city, they moved uptown to Center Ice Plaza. The new 7,000 sq. ft location seats a total of 150 people (30 in the lounge; 20 at the bar; and 100 in the dining area). The new location, situated on the south mezzanine, has 35 lake-view widows, faces south, a patio coming in the summer 2010 overlooking the lake, a full wine display behind the bar, an open kitchen concept, a mall access, and a separate grand entrance with the option of a tiered staircase or elevator. L’Héritage is owned by Chef Pierre LePage, a blue-ribbon accredited chef.

Family Vision Optical Centre is the leading prescription eye-wear retailer in Yellowknife. They have been in this location for height years. The store has recently been renovated and has a very modern look and the best selection of frames in the city. An interior mall access is underway.

Barrenland Jewellery is a well establish entity in Yellowknife. After being in the same location for the last fourteen years, they have decided to make a new beginning at Center Ice. Barrenland’s has a wide range of fashion jewellery, accessories, and gift-ware. Generally their merchandise is in the mid-to-high end range for quality, price and brands. Their target market is young adult and adult women.

Stanton Health Authority is the government body for health care in the NWT. For instance, they administer the main hospital for the Territory (located kitty-corner to Center ice). Stanton Finance Administration Department is located on the north mezzanine of Center Ice.

Within earshot: Adjacent Center Ice, to the south is a Shell/Circle-K gas bar. When it opened this was one of the highest grossing Shell/Circle-K locations in western Canada and continues to have higher than average numbers. Adjacent to Center Ice to the north of the property, is Mark Work Warehouse in a newly renovated facility; and the only Tim Horton’s in Yellowknife.
